I began my yoga journey summer 2008 in Amherst, MA. I was unsure and
unhappy with myself and current life path. Knew I needed something to bring
me back to center. I used this yoga to bring strength and healing to my body.
Since my first yoga steps, life has transformed physically, mentally, emotionally,
and spiritually. Taking class became a priority and I found myself making better
life decisions and becoming a better person. Yoga was my life and I couldn't
stop riding the wave.
Two years later, I moved back to the Midwest to be with my family.
Only...there's no Bikram Yoga in South Dakota! After two weeks without it...I
knew I had to get to training. I had to keep yoga as my life. This is the only thing
I've found that works my whole body, inside out. It compliments everything I do
in my life and allows me to do everything I've wanted to do and more. That's
why I practice. I teach because I want everyone I know to have their own
special yoga journey and see the light inside themselves. You're worth the
effort. I teach with compassion, understanding, and tough love. I've taught in
Montana, Chicago, and all over the great state of Massachusetts. Happy to be
part of this new studio!
I first discovered Bikram yoga in the summer of 2004, when friend said,
"Come try this yoga class - you'll be good at it!" That was a big lie - I
wasn't any "good at it" at first - but I kept going back because I loved how
it made me feel. Since I was studying at MIT and dancing with a local
ballet company, I didn't have a lot of free time, but I fit in the class
whenever I had a chance. Eventually I finished college, gave up ballet, and
started going to Bikram every day. The effects were amazing - my body
got stronger and healthier, my stress went away, and most importantly, I
felt good about myself. In Spring 2010, after spending a couple years in a
PhD engineering program, I followed my heart and went to the Bikram
Yoga Teacher Training in Las Vegas. I have never looked back!
I've been a full-time yoga teacher ever since I finished the teacher
training. Before coming to Rhode Island, I taught at Bikram Yoga Hampden
in Baltimore, Maryland. I've also had the opportunity to travel and teach at
studios around the country in California, Massachusetts, Connecticut,
Virginia, Kentucky, and Alabama. I first came to Ocean State Bikram Yoga
as a visiting teacher, and I am thrilled to be back here as a regular
member of the staff! I can't wait to see you in the hot room. Just show up
for class and see what happens. You will be amazed!
